  • regarding gladiator awakening skills?

    1. I can't seem to be able to side dodge? Can you use it only when you're in the range of the enemy?

    2. is parry counter really neccessary?

The awakened Parry is SO GOOD! It's very strong and it's a good way to avoid damage. It's active so you can attack as soon as you Parry. Side Dodge is a bit tricky, takes a while to get used to it. Try using a skill like Triple Slash or Forward Thrust and at the end of it hold a direction (W, S, A, or D) and right click at the same time! Sometimes I mash right click just to be sure. You can do it! Honestly I don't really Side Dodge too often, but I'm sure it would be useful in a nest or a raid!

Parry with awakening becomes a strong skill in avoiding damage and safety outputting damage.

I haven't played with Side Dodge enough to give a clear answer. Xero, Joorji maybe could help?

So I typed a whole bunch of stuff and somehow it all got deleted... so ima just copy paste something I posted before in another thread. And please, do look through previous threads before making questions that have already been answered.

        tl;dr?
U need 5 stacks to cast side dodge
Yes parry is so op it replaces triple slash as a main dps skill.

        Glad Pure PvE Build

        Overview:

-Triple slash awakening: Did not take. After 93 cap happened they seem to have slowed down the casting time of triple slash. That and the awakening having 5 slashes (most of the dmg being on the 2 last slashes) means triple slash ex is better overall than the awakening. You wont have too much time, if at all, to be using triple slash anyways with parry being on a 6 sec cd now (5.1k% board dmg, every 6 seconds). Though once in a blue moon you will have casted everything and will have around 2 seconds of free time to cast whatever you want, that's when you can use triple slash.

-Side dodge awakening: Is a very important skill atm for glads if you wanna maximize dps. Other than being able to move around swiftly like Crunchy Frog...

... you can use side dodge to lower the cd of Line Drive (Frenzied Charge) which is your main dps skill. Because side dodge takes 5 stacks (or only 4 due to hit giving 1 stack back), and your mastery lowering your main skills' cd by half, its a good idea to cast side dodge after you have all your stacks to halve your Line Drive CD,

Most common Rotation example (Skills that consume stacks are in red, courageous shout will be in blue it recovers 10 stacks):Luring Slice> Courageous Shout> Front Shove> Feint> Line Drive> dash kick> Line drive (you are should be at full stacks by now)> Hyper drive (you lose 15 stacks)> courageous (regain all stacks back, your LD cd is halved, but we gonna half it again)> side dodge (lose 5 stacks)>parry>front shove>feint>front shove (all stacks are back, and LD cd is halved again and ready to cast in the next 2 seconds).

Just know that this will become obsolete in upcoming patches where side dodge no longer consumes bubbles, and is on a 5 sec cd.

Destructive Swing: lvl 6 for an extra iframe.

Front Shove awakening: This skill is absolutely amazing. Sure you will lose forward thrust's iframe, but the dmg increase is very good, and it heals 3% hp every time it lands. Will take some time getting used to is all.

Luring Slice: It got a percent buff to its dmg, so max this shet out.

Dash Kick: Maxed to reduce cd to 7 sec, to spam LD as much as you can (cuz it resets LD).

Eclipse: Good to put your spare points into it since it got a slight buff, and is a good, swift filler, the more points u put into it the lower the cd.

Side kick: NO NEED TO HAVE, I just have it cuz I'm used to having it for pvp. It's also good to have to get out of the way if u dont wanna use a side dodge.

Any questions just ask In game or here.

I generally agree with everything Xerogen said in his post, he only has a slight mistake of Side Dodge costing 4 stacks to cast and technically becomes 3 if you hit the enemy. Skill priorities are rather obvious with Parry and Front Shove having top priority outside of Hyper Drive and Coup de Grace. Parry hugely powerful and should be top 3ish in your DPS meter alongside Hyper Drive, Front Shove and Additional Damage (Coup).

Side dodge is an amazing way to make the most of DPS. No longer must you spend a tumble and dash to evade an attack if you're out of iframes. A quick cast of Side Dodge can let you get behind the boss or around an a boss' attack quickly while dealing damage. If you land a solid hit of Side Dodge, it will deal more damage than Feint (unless you have Feint plated for damage). A lot of Gladiators may find themselves becoming distanced from the boss as you continue to DPS freely sometimes. This is due to the changes to Front Shove. Since Front Shove is such a high priority skill, many rotations involve the player using Front Shove > Feint > Front Shove. Feint moves the player backwards while Front Shove (Formerly Forward Thrust) leaves you in place, you may occasionally find yourself slowly moving backwards as you DPS. A simple use of Triple Slash (left clicks) will move you back up, or a single cast of Side Dodge can throw you straight back in front of the boss' face.

Our build's are slightly different. I went with Cyclone Slash to get damage in while bosses are doing dangerous mechs. I dropped points from Infinity Edge as I don't find myself using it anymore. I also decided to max Eclipse for utility reasons. It's just a fast casting skill that gets the job of filler done.

About parry. Sometimes after using parry, my character doesn't seem to be blcoking enemy attacks. Do I need to have my enemy attack me immediately after I use parry in order for it to work?

              left click after if awakened.

if not, you need to time it as the monster is attacking you

On another note, your top dps skills should be as follows:

                1. Additional dmg(from coup)
                2. Hyper drive
                3. Line drive
                4. parry/front shove
                5. whatever else rly
