I know that the chronicle system only lasts during this update but would it be ok to just make the character and not lvl it up? Will still be able to get it to lvl 80 fast finishing the story even after the update?

I would personally just do the chronicle story. it only takes about an hour at most and requires minimal effort from you (literally, equip stuff they give you, slap sp into a build, and talk to npcs. Very rarely do you actually end up having to play the game and fight mobs)

Anything could happen to bug incomplete chronicle chars between patches so i would rather be safe than sorry.

You can however absolutely take it through chronicle, get it to 80 and into saints haven and THEN leave it to lvl up later. Because after it finishes chronicle its pretty much the same exact thing as a regular character.
