Should I go with str + vit or str + crit?

really depends on your gear and accessory sets. if you're above 210k crit, go strength. if you're below 200k crit, go crit stat. but with the class mastery stat revamp coming up, Dragoons are one of the classes that will get a 50% increase on strength; same with valkyrie on 50% increase on intellect. on my Dragoon alt, im stacking 5 stren third line and 2 crit line crests. so you can either rely on rng in hoping your skills crit with raw stren or crit consistently, but hit with low stren. i hope this helps. should join The Holy Spears :3

also depends if you're comfortable with less than 2.3k hp in raids or not

If you're asking about dragon gems, start with str/vit. As you get more experienced and comfortable doing content, you can switch over to str/crit for more damage.
