  • Gear progression

    Hey peeps
I just started 3-4 days ago and hit 93 today.
Just got full theano and working on getting my weapon and gauntlet +10 and armor etc to +6 for now.
The question is what is next and what is gear progression like, I am a completely new player and just need some guidance.

TLR What comes after Theano and what comes after that and how do you go about getting it?

Any other tips are welcome cause im 100% new

    Have a good one guys

    Repost from reddit

    Here's the gearing rundown:

Every cap thus far has rare, epic, unique, legendary gear. A cap was 10 levels (so 40 used to be max level, then as content was released it was raised to 50, 60, etc)

In 80 cap people worked from ranchea gear(80 epics) to RDNU (80 uniques) to RDNL (80 lgrades). Most people however could not clear RDN in 80 cap, so it was more common to see Cauda/Felix/coma gear (90 epics) with RDNU weaps (80 cap) go to RDNl (80 lgrade) Now IDN was supposed to come out during 90 cap but due to NAs situation it came out in 93 cap.

However, since this cap is 93, only a 3 level increase from the last cap which is unprecedented, no one really knows the best way to gear. Traditional advice still holds however, which is you get the epics of the cap you play in (Theano is lvl 93 epics) then save up for the lvl 93 uniques, then go to 93 lgrades. However, lvl 93 uniques an lgrade don't exist yet, so why would you save up for something imaginary? If you can get the lgrades of the previous cap, you 1) do lot more damage, which means you can farm faster, making your time use more efficient, 2) you can jump in newly released raids because you meet the gear requirements.

So this means that if you want to be viable for endgame, you can get 93 epic armors and 90unique weapons. 93 uniques won't be out for a long time.

The general rule is that uniques are only marginally better than epics of the next cap (80 unique is slightly better than 90 epic, 90 unique is slightly better than 93 epic). Lgrades are only outmatched by higher level lgrades or just sheer level (so IDNL 90 gear is better than RDNL 80 gear, or BDNL 70 gear is slightly worse than 93 epics) So if you want more damage, then objectively the 90 uniques( evolution coma) are better than 93 epics (theano).

TLDR: It depends on how much you're willing to spend. Because new players don't have an established commitment the easiest gear to invest in is 93 epics (theano) which is considered average gear. It's good enough for 80 cap raid Red Dragon Nest, 90 cap 4-man content (idn hc is a bit iffy depends if you have overgeared dps to carry) and 93 cap content.

If you actually want to do endgame, then you're going to have to shell out for "outdated" gear (not really outdated, just not as future proof as investing in 93 gear but you get more damage NOW, and im of the opinion to spend money instead of save because it's better to be OP and broke than to be rich and weak)
