  • Looking for ways to increase Gladiator DPS

    Hello fellow gladiators.

I am looking for ways to increase my DPS as a Gladiator. At the moment, I believe I hit a wall, but I know that my damage potential can be so much higher. Unfortunately, I'm not able (or qualified) to catch a lot of key errors or habits that I do.

I have seen veteran videos on the awakened 93 cap version of Gladiators of the class such as Joorji, CrunchyFrog , and Xero, but I am managing my expectations, as I do not have extensive experience with the Gladiator class or Dragon Nest in general. I just want to mention that the level 93 patch is also the first patch I have taken Dragon Nest seriously. Even though I have played in previous patches, I never attended raids and barely did anything aside from capping characters and dailies. I am rapidly learning about boss mechanics though. If there's any tips and tricks regarding unique boss mechanic encounters, feel free to let me know as well.

Here's a quick video of a manticore HC run I did earlier this week:

    Stats (from the video)
    [DARK ATK CONVERTED]

Please review it at let me know what habits I should avoid and how to increase my DPS (like skill rotations for example). Let me know if there's things I can "ease" into.

    Thank you!

I'm pretty bad but u know, the easiest thing I could say to improve from watching ur vid would be to try and use stronger skills over weaker stuff. Like, I noticed you were using triple slash before forward thrust at first, and you even used it twice before line drive.... idk bout that one. Triple slash isn't as strong as forward thrust anymore, so I would try and focus more on using maybe brave->ft->feint->ft->ld+dash kick->feint->ld(do it fast enough so ld is still an instant) and then repeat (kinda). That's just at the start tho. Also keep in mind stronger abilities have higher priority, so Hyper Drive and parry are very important to throw into the rotation as well. You can use triple slash when other stuff in on cd and feint isn't up yet, but it's very low priority after the awakening. But then again I'm a no one and what I say doesn't matter ;o

I'm not the perfect player but I can help you out a bit based on what I've seen in your video.

I believe you use triple slash way to much. Instead of using triple slash so much use front-shove, and parry as much as you can along with line drive.

      Front-shove> Parry> feint> Front-shove
Should Be your bread and butter.
Remember you can lower LD cooldown after using it by having max stacks, using side dodge/hyper drive/coup to consume stacks, and then maxing out stacks again.
What this does is exploits your Mastery passive, which lowers your main skills' CD by 50%, so by reattaining stacks multiple times, each time it will cut it down again by 50%

The usual dps rotation way to do this is Brave>FrontShove>Feint>LineDrive(fullstacks)>dashk ick>Parry>LDinstant>HyperDrive>Brave(Full Stacks)>Sidedodge>parry>frontShove

If this confuses you, just read below.

Note that the Reason I call it an EXPLOIT is solely based on the fact that this playstyle was not intended by the developers, and they have patched it on other servers already.

      LINE DRIVE CD REDUCTION
      Initial use at full stacks:
      10.8 Sec

      Stacks exploit:
      5.4 Sec
(At this point you should go through your bread and butter skills till LD is up again)

Or you can exploit again (not recommended, you'll be wasting time to dps with other skills, it's already down to 5 sec you impatient fuck, what else do you want??):
      2.7 Sec

I'd link my own videos, but go ahead and check out CrunchyFrog's he does it a lot too.

You use Triple Slash wayyyyy too much. Ideally, you shouldn't be using Triple Slash at all because it is weaker in comparison to your other skills.

Priority skills to use first: Forward Thrust (Crit Resist -20% Debuff, quick animation, high DPS) | Hyper Drive (Try to get it to only tick once per drive) | Parry (5,100% DMG, 5 sec CD, quick animation, iFrame) | Line Drive x2 (Very high DMG, Low CD, +1 Instant) | Coup (Self-explanatory)

Furthermore, you want to build ur stacks back as quickly as u can after using Hyper Drive or Coup de Grace, so use Brave directly after using HD or Coup. Keeping your stacks maxed helps boost your DPS, marginally. You definitely need to focus on getting FT off FIRST, and then Parry + LD spam, though.

My personal combo: Brave>FT>Parry>Feint>FT>Line Drive>Dash Kick>Instant>Parry>Hyper Drive> [Recycle]. Also, do not forget to use FT, Brave, and Luring Slice before you Coup to maximize DMG.

Thank you for all the advice.

Triple Slash seemed like an essential skill while leveling up, so I believe that's the reason why I stuck with it, however it seems to be most detrimental to my damage output. I noticed I use Triple Slash to ever so slightly re-position my character a lot as well, but that would seem irrelevant with Feint and Parry being on low cool down.

I'll try to record more game play focusing on addressing my Triple Slash issue by this Saturday, since that's the common ground on all 3 advice posts. Once again, thank you Demo , Xero , DocWar.

Additional Stuff to add on to what others have said:
There are a lot of times where you tumble where it is unnecessary. You could be using Side Dodge instead of that. You also don't sufficiently use Hyper Drive enough, you're missing out on a lot of DPS since you're not using the skill as often as you could be. I'm also unsure as to why you're hitting coup when the doesn't get increased yet (dunno if that's an accident or something). Triple Slash is kinda a filler skill now. You could also try using your Blade Storm more. Try to decrease any time that you are standing still doing nothing to 0.

I'm assuming blade storm is during like those times where I need to distance myself from the boss? Anyways, thank you for the advice. I've seen my DPS already go up 1 million already.
