I am in the process of making a RDN HC team Norm -> HC
Prior knowledge is not necessary as long as i can see you making an attempt to learn the mechanics most importantly not die.
Just try to be a fast learner and read the guides also learn from your mistakes.
Gear expectations will not be too high as long as you are at least averagely geared, the Standards of "average" for NA is very low too.

The only class we don't currently want is another tank, we may take a second healer to help others with learning it and not getting hit, I also sometimes have a slight delay so this could help too.
I may leave at the end of the run, i will have someone collect the drops to seal and sell, everyone will get an even split with the stamp price being deducted from the cost.
Items under 900g will be FFA.
