I know that getting to 80 gives a Red Light Spirit from that box you get upon 80, but is there another way to get it? I also remember that the 80 dungeons used to drop something to exchange for it, but it was removed. The box may have expired for me, and now I'm missing a spirit. If there is a free spirit available to get somewhere, then can someone tell me where?

The item you're thinking of was the Phantom Shard, which back then would let you buy EXP scrolls, an item to make the dungeon harder and the Purple Light Spirit.
The shop in question though was removed a long time ago, presumably when abyss dungeons for the lower levels began to disappear.
So far, the only 'free' spirits you can get are: the Red Spirit you mentioned, Dawn Souls from the 2nd tab of the Stage Point shop with the Priestess Mocha, and Butterfly spirits from other players on the MP.

I believe Heroes Battlefield gives you a spirit for defeating one of the hidden bosses.Comment
