uses for rough alteum?

hi guys just wanna ask a question that i have ever since i started DN. whats the use for rough alteum? ive seen it being sold in trade house for like 9G to 20G range. like why is it so expensive for it being just a rough* alteum?? its almost the same price as high grade garnet. can someone tell me about it? i just cant figure it out at all...

Used for crafting some skill plates. It is easy to obtain by gifting low level npc but convenient to just buy in th when you need it.
