I think a better pvp event would be a return to DNCL or a team vs team wipeout/respawn event. DNCL (1v1 tournament) would obviously be for 1v1 glory and was generally enjoyed by a lot of pvpers, but something that I think DNNA is missing the the team vs team pvp aspect. I've watched several pvp tournaments from KDN, CDN, and JDN, and it was really nice to see people relying on each other in a team in pvp as opposed to being toxic. This camaraderie is something that this server desperately needs as well, as there is honestly nothing better to do in the game at the moment, pve or pvp alike. We have raids in pve and get rewarded for succeeding as a team, but in pvp, we don't really have anything like that, making it more likely that people will be toxic against each other.

On a larger scale, PLEASE REVIVE GUILD RUMBLES. Those were massively fun for us veterans from several caps ago, but it never happens nowadays due to various reasons. Giving a reward to the winning guild would make guild rumbles relevant again!
    For clarification, Dean:

DNCL was a player hosted event that ran for about 5 months towards the end of 2015 that eventually gained official sponsorship from Nexon. It fell apart halfway due to organizer drama, but that's neither here nor there anymore.

Basically how it worked was that there were player judges that would fight any player during set times (I was one of them, playing as a Saint, perhaps a very odd choice at the time but whatever), and said judges would rank each participants' performance on a metric of 1-5 in various categories (if the player got 1 round/2 rounds/actually won the match against us, their mastery of their chosen class, their knowledge of the class matchup (which I couldn't rank consistently because PvP Saints didn't really exist aside from me and two other people), and a few other factors that I've since forgotten).

Then the actual tournies would be held every weekend at a set time, and would often take anywhere from 2-3 hours to conclude, depending on how many participants show up. Participants that show up are thrown into either 3v3 or 4v4 Wipeout/All-Kill teams, though the scores are then used to semi-randomly determine who goes into which team (semi because each team would be, in theory, as close to equal in overall skill level as possible). Players would be scored AGAIN based on where they placed in each actual tourney - the top 32(?) players were then invited to an end of season Wipeout session where the top prize was actually 1 million NX/EyeCash split among the final winning team, I think.

(My actual memory of what happened towards the end is rather hazy.)

The system wasn't without its flaws - there was drama over a smartass or two that figured out how the system worked and used an alt to score badly during judging on purpose so that he'd be paired with another high tier PvPer, and there were classes that were obviously so horrendously broken at the time that they could literally carry entire teams by themselves (LOOKING AT YOU, ADEPTS AND SCREAMERS), but it was overall the most successful PvP event that had ever existed in NA's entire history.

Also, regarding the complaints about a certain player:

    http://forum.dragonnest.com/forum/pv...-on-getupbitch

Just read the thread. There's a reason why this player was permanently banned before the host transfer from Nexon to ED happened, but the transfer had the obviously unintended side effect of lifting it. Obviously to no change in his attitude (if anything, it's even worsened). In a normal game community, this guy would have been booted off the top of Mount Everest within a week. And I say this as one of Nexon's former forum moderators/community liasons.

Thank you for your concern. Actully, I and my team mates are thinking about how to revive our PvP system. Currently I know there are only few people play PvP and new players don't try PvP due to the class balance. However, we hope to revive our PvP system and want more user to enjoy it. There will be more PvP events like tournament, GM PvP, and etc. Also, one more PvP event is coming. So brace yourself

Unless you're going to focus on fixing PvP bugs and lag, I think PvP events should be placed on a back burner. You can introduce them every once in a while though.

In any case, the PvP event was nice. Good to see GM interaction, but that guy who kept telling [GM]Eye to "get up btch" should just be banned entirely.

You seem to have the idea that GM's hosting events takes away from Korean devs doing their jobs. It's pretty irrelevant in the fact and as I said the lag will pretty much never be fixed. Abusing the lag? Rarely anyone abuses the lag, it pretty much just happens. I already said existing players and players that quit cause they have no incentive to play cause there's no competitive scene to it. I'm not talking about judging an event through skill, I'm talking about tournament style brackets which wouldn't even take much time. You're acting as if this would suck the resources out of Dragon Nest when it's could be less than a few hours every month.

Honestly, PvP isn't my thing so if a tournament is released, I don't mind, so you're not trying to convince me here. My only qualms are the very thing that drove everyone FROM PvP in the first place still exists. You can patch a temporary band-aid in the form of officially sponsored tournaments, but PvP will remain a dead scene until it's re-hauled. In my opinion, it seems like a huge waste of time since the problem will simply come back if there's no constant stream of tournaments.

I have worked in a F2P Korean environment before, so I can say, if the developer is anything like ED, it does take a good amount of time and resources. Just based on Dean's comments about his limited powers on DN, it seems that only the developers have access to CCU and other relevant stats to successfully plan an event like this, tasking the developers to do this research and making it difficult for the person actually talking to the community to make such an event.

What? Doing a tournament like Nexon did back in 50 cap had nothing to do with devs, or adding any new features. No one said tournaments will revive the scene. If you hadn't notice I've been talking about them doing it for the players that are already here. Not sure why you think assume everything has to be super complicated.
