  • Change to Forward Thrust for Gladiator

This change that brought back the iframe for Forward Thrust has made the play style of Gladiator awkward and annoying. It makes no sense to why the iframe is regular forward thrust and holding S activates the awakening passive version. Simple fix would be to switch those two around, and to activate iframe version would be by holding S.

I know a lot of experienced gladiator's agree with me on this change.

this is the regular version of forward thrust and it got changed back cuz glads were complaining about the old awakening version being awkward lol, I prefer it this way cuz the iframe is easier to use. keeping the w+FT wouldve been nice tho

FT should be stationary and wFT should be the new animation imo. It would make for more fluid and easier controls.

#NOTSIGNED CUZ THAT IS NOT HOW FT ORIGINALLY WORKS ;/. To me it sounds like it should be TOGGABLE FOR PVE cause nobody wants to fking press S every single cast to optimize their DPS better.

That's what I"m hoping they do. The aim for this post was to modify the way FT is usable.

Any Gladiator main has a legitimate basis to complain, and honestly this issue can use a quality of life fix.

N - Neutral Direction (no directional keys pressed)
W - Forward Direction (W or Forward direction key pressed)
S - Backwards Direction (S or Backward direction key pressed)

When Gladiator awakening first came out, the only two inputs were W-Forward Thrust and N-Forward Thrust, the former being movement Forward Thrust and the latter being stationary but optimized DPS Forward Thrust. These changes haven't been touched since late September, but they decided to change it. The change itself was welcome, an additional i-Frame (Forward Thrust EX animations) was welcomed, but how it was executed ruined the flow of Gladiator's damage rotation pretty badly.

The following is talked about in the awakening version of Forward Thrust:
Now the current N-Forward Thrust moves the user forward, W-Forward Thrust has been taken out as a command, and S-Forward Thrust has been introduced to replace the original N-Forward Thrust. The current S-Forward Thrust is the optimized DPS solution for a lot of Gladiators and its often the form of sustained DPS, however it's a lot (and I do mean a lot) harder to execute. My Forward Thrust damage has almost always been on the top of my charts, but it has now dropped to 4th or lower. Gladiators, especially if not fully FD stack, IDN L stack, whatever god-tier funded, has a pretty decent DPS drop.

A good quality of life change is to replace the current N-Forward Thrust and making its input W-Forward Thrust, while N-Forward Thrust gets reverted back to its original state. Not only will this bring the changes the developers wanted, it brings back a quality of life issue that Gladiator's now face.

Idk glad is in 1 of the best spots in the game rn and a lot of other classes have much bigger issues. I think the last thing a lot of ppl wana see in general discussion is a thread like this.

I hated it at first too, but you need to get used to it. My dps actually increased lol. I enjoy the additional iframe; it's made the glad skill ceiling even higher. The s variant ia great for PvP too

I find that hard to believe considering the current neutral Forward Thrust does less damage than the stationary one, even when all damage ticks land.

Like I said, the change is welcomed, but it should be replaced with W-Forward Thrust versus its current N-Forward Thrust state.

                            Edit:
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure you don't have a reliance on Forward Thrust being a huge part of your DPS on bar mechs like cursed energy for example? I can see how this benefits higher geared Gladiators that don't have a reliance on Forward Thrust (ie more iFrames and you don't get hit as much), but even then, everyone benefits from a QoL change. Anyways, my point being is the majority is going to feel it actually hurt versus the rare(r) case like yours.

Oh, that's because I've adjusted to the new controls. I'm still using the stationary front shove just as frequently, I just find the iframe to be very useful in dishing out additional dps when I can (say I use stationary ft and then the boss swipes at me). You really can't deny glad is more efficient/safe now, despite being harder to play. It just takes that adjustment. Also, front shove is an extremely core skill to glad, regardless of your gear level. It should be doing similar % dmg to your line drive(s) and parry.

I see your point of view. I still argue in favor for the quality of life changes, but band-aiding and adjusting to the change seems necessary for the time being. I do see it being a great variant in PvP though.
