  • Instead of autobanning legit players.

Gold sellers and MMO have been a thing since there have been MMOs. Reading stories about all these people being autobanned, I'm forced to wonder if trying to reduce the supply of botted gold is really the best answer. When you have GMs online interacting with players, while at the same time gold sellers are globally selling gold with impunity, this sends a powerful message to players who would be tempted to buy gold. Is it beyond ED's capability to do a few high dollar value stings?

    1. ED employee buys a few low value gold transactions from gold sellers.
    2. ED employee uses paypal w/ credit card.
    3. ED employee buys a LARGE amount of gold.
    4. ED employee reverses the charge on his credit card.
    5. Gold seller gets hit with a chargeback .. and lost gold. AND has revealed his mule and the guild he's using to launder the gold.
    6. Repeat.

To address the gold demand. a few high profile gold buyers should be publicly banned and or inventory cleared and posted in forum. In my opinion, only through addressing both the supply and the demand side, can the problem be controlled. Thank you for reading.

I'm imagining everything that could go wrong with that type of interaction. Also, that seems all kinds of messed up.
