  • Let's Come Together Everyone!

    Hi everyone!
I'm sure many of you have noticed that the server has not been doing so well lately. Many of our passives keep failing, iframes don't work properly, lag casts, air casts, and many other shenanigans have been abundant in both pvp and pve. I believe the lag has become frequent and bad enough for us to try to do something about it and GM DENTITY has said how to do this.
This is a snip of a chat log of GM DENTITY last night while playing wipeout:

[Hades] : when is the server lag going away?
[[GM] DENTITY] : im well aware ranks dont mean anything
[[GM] DENTITY] : if you want server lag to go away
[AlgosII] : but tis nice to look at
[[GM] DENTITY] : send in a ticket
    [AlgosII] : :C
[[GM] DENTITY] : if a bunch of ppl send the same ticket
[Kirigana] : time to make a forum post
[Skitz] : We all gotta do that!
[[GM] DENTITY] : the issue gets fixed
[[GM] DENTITY] : ie broken spirit fixes
[[GM] DENTITY] : so many ppl complained that they fixed it

Since GM DENTITY was the one to say it, I'm willing to give it a try.
What I'm hoping and asking for, is for all of us to come together and, in a polite way, send in a bunch of tickets regarding the issue of lag.
I know we've all complained on the forums before about this kind of stuff and not much has come of it, but I would still like to try resolving this issue using the ticket system. The ticket system isn't perfect, but as DENTITY pointed out, the spirit issue was handled because enough people complained. According to DENTITY, Cherry Credits needs to see the tickets. If they see enough, they'll get Eyedentity to fix it. All I'm wanting you guys to do is complain (but again, in a polite way (we want them to take us seriously!)) about the lag here in DN NA. Making a ticket about this should only take but a minute, and hey, you could get some of that salt off your chest that's been piling up for a while. Let them know how amazing this game could be if the lag was minimized. DENTITY did say that they may not be able to completely fix it or do anything at all to help, but it's definitely worth a shot in my opinion.
We've got nothing to lose by doing this and as I see it, the reduction of lag is one way to really help the game out. We have every right to complain and report issues since at the end of the day, we're the consumers for this game. So please, let's get the community's voice to be heard about this. Send in a ticket while you're waiting on DN for someone to load or during any small break you have. With our game's small population, each complaint counts. Even if you only occasionally come on to play, all complaints to fix the game will help!

Here's how to send in a ticket:
Simply go to this link https://us.dragonnest.com/support/request
Type in an email address (preferably an email address you own).
Choose whichever topic you think is appropriate for the Topic (Technical/Bug Issues, Feedback and Suggestions, or General Inquiries, would probably be best)
Give an IGN (In Game Name) of any of your characters (only if you chose Tech/Bug Issues).
Put "Always" (Lag is always happening) or something similar for Frequency of Occurrence (only if you chose Tech/Bug Issues).
Type your complaint in Issue Description,
    and then send!

Also, if this were to work, perhaps resolving many issues of Dragon Nest this way could become a thing. It did kinda work for the spirit issue afterall.

Please Read DENTITY'S comment on this. Basically, include detail w/ your complaint!

    Sincerely,
    Your boy SkitzoRoy~

P.S. If you guys post here in the forums that you submitted a ticket, I think that could encourage others to submit a ticket as well. If they see many others contributing to this, they could feel more compelled to help out!

    tl;dr:
GM DENTITY says everyone sending in tickets could fix the lag. Let's do it!

Isn't it sort of weird that it is always the player base helping the GMs do their work for them? Raising issues/bugs.

This reactive approach rather than proactive is why this game has so many issues.

It's unfortunate that these circumstances aren't ideal. But, we do what we have to with what we're given.

However, if a reactive approach actually works, then I believe the players will have to realize they have a responsibility to work together to keep this game alive. If us coming together to fix this issues works, then at least we have that instead of (from what I see) nothing.

Not sure what you're implying zeus, but I've been actively lobbying for fixes for basically every issue since day 1 of my job, as well as being open to people to report issues to me that I personally had not found. However, when things are moving slowly or not happening due to infrastructure reasons, I have to start trying different approaches, hence this new one. Yes, it does ask for help from the players, but what game doesn't? It's frankly not weird at all; it's just Dragon Nest has never really done this before explicitly. While many of your concerns are valid and you do raise good points, I think your comment here was off-base.

P.S. Raising issues/bugs is not actually part of my job description - I do it because I feel it is necessary. Please do not spread misinformation.

I'm not really implying nor do you have to defend yourself because I know you're doing all you can as a player GM. I'm well aware of what powers you have and what you are restricted to. However, the player-base is constantly leaving because of all the issues that exist. If the solution is to send a massive amount of tickets to have issues fixed, then this is going to be a very busy player-base.

The amount of issues aside from lag include bugged skills, untranslated quests, item-name errors, and bots occupying the stone buffs.

While it is certainly not in your job description to have these issues fixed, it certainty is not the responsibility of the player-base to have these issues fixed as well. As a customer, if I spend money on a product I expect it work. If a product had to be fixed when purchased, how many people would return to buy from the same company?

Unfortunately, you are the middle man and the blame seems to be towards you when it should be directed at the lazy company who are either lazy, greedy, or incompetent to understand how to run a game successfully.

Hey Dentity, just to be sure, would multiple tickets showing different cases/examples of lag be helpful? Or should we only stick to one example w/ one ticket?
In other words, would I, or any other person, help at out more by putting in more tickets showing lag, or would one ticket per person w/ only one or multiple examples in that ticket suffice?
Also, thanks for getting this going! Hopefully we get something done

More examples are better. If this information reaches ED, it will show them whether the lag is a systemic issue, or just a ton of edge cases that need to be fixed. Thank you for spearheading this!

I'm just curious if the devs themselves know how to fix it

as far as I'm concerned high ping is caused by 1) distance from servers and 2) quality of internet connection

aircasting usually happens when someone uses a legitimate counter skill

of course I'd be happy if wakeups and aes didn't suddenly make you stand there and tumbles didn't get canceled and SOF worked but unless they moved servers to the middle of the continent I don't see much happening

High ping isn't always the cause of these issues, there are plenty of situations where the server itself is unable to reconcile what is "reality" which leads to interesting results.

I'll say what I said earlier to this, I am all for this game getting fixed, lag being a thing of the past, and being able to dive in and enjoy the PvP.

But it just leaves such an absurdly sour taste in my mouth to have to hear that, in order to fix it, it suddenly becomes the players job to be heard. I've been playing this game an absurdly stupid time, and I have almost exclusively PvPed. The PvE never held a candle to me comparatively to the nuances of PvP. And as a PvPer, if there is one thing I've ever felt, it's ignored by the people letting me play this game.

We're a playerbase, we're not employees or anything that can clock in/out. I enjoy this game, I do, but it's absurd that for the developers to acknowledge issues that have been prevalent for essentially years now, we need to band together to form a massive power... to get the developers to do their damn jobs.

I feel the best phrase to account for this scenario would definitely be "too little too late", as the situation presented here is "Hey! If you like PvP, looks like its up to YOU to fix it!"

Its like you handed me a diamond under a junkyard of toxic waste and expected me to dig out the diamond for you.
There's a great game here hidden under the garbage but its not my job to shift through your garbage.

This comes to me in ESPECIALLY poor taste because I KNOW people have already identified and have footage of loads of lag issues and yet somehow the devs still find the need to ignore it. That just basically means they don't care.

Regardless though, I do hope this game gets fixed, there's lots of fun that could be had, but it just isn't happening right now. The only PvPers that still play seem to be aggressive newgens or roleplayers.

        EDIT :

Btw tho I did actually spread some of the puush's of your birds around from earlier, Dentity, but as I said, a lot of PvPers are simply too jaded at this point to bother trying. Ignored is definitely how most of us have felt playing this game, to suddenly hear that all we need to do is be heard to fix the game is like telling the blind their goal is within sight.

I thank you again for trying to spread the word. Like you, I believe this game could be very big if major changes are made.

As far as the suddenness of hearing about this particular solution, that fault lies with me. I've taken several months constantly testing my powers and seeing where the limits were, what I can influence directly, influence subtly, and where I have no power at all. It is after such experimentation (some of which have shown some positive results, though it frankly took way too much effort on my part), I suddenly realized that I had not considered pushing one of the most effective ways to create a change that has been proven to work before: flooding the ticket system. In retrospect, I should have pushed for people to use this method for change first instead of trying to start by doing things myself.

I am essentially making a plea for the playerbase's help to change the game, not just as a GM, but as a fellow player. Like I explained to you before, and I will now explain to the general populace, you have someone who is on your side (me) who can push upper management in a limited number of ways to effect change, which has really never happened before. Even in the Nexon days, the mods were more concerned with keeping peace or making sure rules were followed, and this is because they had different goals in mind. Now, you have someone pushing for change, and I ask that you not squander that chance due to past hurts that you may never forgive ED for.

If this method doesn't work, I'm currently in the middle of many of my own ways to inspire change in ED, some of which have already worked before and I am confident will work again. I will continue to keep trying to make your lives better in the long term so long as I'm a GM, even if it may not look like it in the moment, but all I ask is for a bit of help in return. The playerbase, of course, is certainly within its right to completely ignore or scorn me, but I think in the end, that would not be beneficial for anyone.

I am also told that all cherry tickets on server lag are being funneled to him, so please please please send in those tickets with details on when the lag happened! Even if you have no screenshot or video, any info is helpful. Map, skills involved, your ping, other guy's ping, etc.!

This game is close to being dead. The only thing keeping this game up and running is a case of idiots still buying EC, people who clearly lack the proper decision-making skills. If you've spent over $1000 (I'm being nice here) on this game alone, it's time to sit your *** down and think about what the **** you did. Of course, I had friends who spent a lot of money on this game (particularly on costumes), but they know they were being a dumb*** and thus led to them spending all their future earnings on something worthwhile. If you still spend on this game and don't think much about it, you have honestly already lost a grip on reality. Welcome to the real world bois.

Of course, I only cared to type up this long of a post cuz Pounding ****-talked the game so I said why not add fuel to the fire. :^)

Hey here's an idea, Can you write a "Bill of Rights" for us, so to speak? Give it a bunch of bullet points emphasizing the deman- I mean concerns we have, and then we can all copy and paste it into a ticket collectively? Just Magna Carta this shìt, and we can all sign on the bottom, heck we can even boycott if it's not met And since this thread is already brainstorming, I have some ideas as well. My ideas are focused on sufficiently rewarding us for our time invested, because compared to other MMO's...this game works you like an apple-odored sweatshop, and new players are generally not happy to discover so:

          - Let Dragon Nest North America trade + server store all cash shop items.

          - Update all Dungeons to be harder and give ALOT more rewards (more lustres/garnets/gold)

          - Release more variety of equalized PvE activities like long time ago (Dark Atrium+Furious Mezzanine+Dragon Expedition)

          - Release low level nests with equalized version so new players will stay and high-Lv people can also do them.

          - Update cooking items to be extremely more powerful, and fishing/farming/cooking products to be worth more gold to merchants

          - Delete public Farm and create more private character farming area

Current activities barely help people make progress, and killing the same dragons every week is extremely boring. There is literally nothing else to do in this game, even after you're geared. I'm sure everyone would rather play a game that sufficiently rewards people for their time invested, because I know that even whales grind this game to get where they are. Even if you play this game just to stand in town and leave your computer running all day, wouldn't you want a bustling game to have more people that you can showoff to and beg likes from?

I tell ya what. If what I'm currently trying to get fixed now ends up getting the attention it needs and something is done about it, then I will devote my time to getting other problems of DN fixed as well as some suggestions to make the game better like the ones you have there. However, right now, I'm focusing on one issue at a time. It's possible nothing will get done, making fixing anything else through this method much more difficult. But, you definitely have some good points that have been brought up by many others, so I do hope that we can work on these things afterwards!

Change doesn't happen unless you do something. America committed shìt until it worked, they boycotted and dumped tea into the ocean. They made a list of demands and negotiated, and then made their own amendments. In anycase, im sure American whales with their American dollars are worth too much for this server to be shut down. If every store decided to close business just because consumers refuse to deal with their bs, we wouldn't have the global economy we have today.

If you were a store owner and people saw through your outrageous prices and service, you fix your store. Closing down isn't an option, you'd starve. Buyers have more power than they're too blind to realize.

I also wish to report an underlying bug in snipers that makes them unplayable. [GM] DENTITY

Windshaft/windshot does no animation or no damage sometimes, due to server lag. How this happens:

If player has enough bubbles to use windshot, he holds down the charged shot key. The character then goes into animation mode
Normally, after a few seconds, a windshot animation will appear on the monster and damage will be dealt... except

If server lagged or if there is any, any form of ping fluctuations, the game thinks the player released the skill too early to form an animation or damage. Thus, no animation or damage appears.

This bug is very common in snipers and severely affects snipers gameplay to the point it essentially cuts their dps by half.

The problem is due to windshot skill: it requires holding down the key. If you hold down the key but game lagged or ping fluctuates then the skill becomes bugged.

Solution to developers: change how windshot works. Rather than holding down the skill, cant you make it work similar to other normal skills e. g. Arrow barrage for snipers?

I have sent multiple tickets about this issue. The bug is more pronounced if your ping is high enough e. g. Australian players but also common among USA players, and the bug even shows up in other DN servers e. g. China DN, dnSEA, so it is not just NA DN. I really hope the developers will revamp this skill into a skill with a simpler mechanism.

Thank you for reporting this. Class specific change requests usually end up getting fixed over time with patches, so hopefully, this one will get fixed over time too, although i do understand your point is it's due to lag. Your ticket honestly helps Roy's original intentions by giving us more context for the lag, so thank you again.
