  • Difficulty of DNNA

    Hello,

I apologize in advance if this is not the correct forum or sub-forum. I simply searched for "Dragon Nest NA Forum".
My question pertains to the difficulty of the DNNA version. I recently started this game (in fact just yesterday), but have been reading about it for awhile now. I had seen mention of Abyss difficulties, hard dungeons, difficult Nests, raids, etc. However, now that I am playing the game I get a very different feeling.

I started off as an Assassin and, it has been extremely un-comforting to find that one of my STARTING abilities - the shuriken throw - can one shot not just one monster but multiple monsters at the same time. I'm currently level 12 and the same thing has continued to happen.

I have read on the forums (admittedly it was an EU forum) that the difficulty of DN has been toned down significantly. Not only of leveling, but of dungeons as well. This was done with the removal of Abyss difficulties among other things. This has made the game extremely boring for me as I was looking forward to challenges, that me and my friend (we are duoing it) would have to genuinely work together to overcome. However it does not look like it will be like this. My questions then are as follows: Does the game (or the NA version at least) become more difficult? Will it continue to be a simple rush to end-game, with easily solo-able dungeons? Have the developers indicated any intention to change things?

And most importantly: Should I continue playing, or will the game not give me what I want - namely difficulty/fun in the leveling process.

The game starts when you reach level 93. Leveling/Doing story and side quests are just hella boring. All classes are fun to play... Bots has been always an issue in this server thats why there are many good stuff that are taken away in this server and nerfed so things aren't that easy that it used to be back in the day. But hey, I can power level you and get you to 93 fast. But I'll only be available around the first week of august. If you wanna have fun in this game you need to commit to yourself on being a p2w player for PVE in the other hand you can play PVP 24/7 It's so fun and dramatic you'll love it.

True. I usually played console games but barely played online games. This game is the only MMORPG pc game I've been able to play - epic story line, all kinds of different skills and stuffs to enhance your character and the characters itself are quite cute to play as well. Just should give it a shot. It's GUD!

Levelling is just a grind but since there is current 500% xp bonus you probably are already lv93 by the time I have written this.

Main content is harder like nests and dark banquet. You can try nests at lv90.

Hello, sorry if I was unclear. My gripe with the game has been that it's too *easy*. I have been able to one shot most things and multiple things with a single ability. I wish they would offer a challenge so I could enjoy my way to the level cap - trying harder versions of dungeons/dying with my friend and trying to overcome the obstacle. Also, I have heard before that the real game starts at level 93. What does that mean, exactly? Does the content significantly spike in difficulty, and require co-ordination? That is what I am looking for.

To the poster above, I apologize as I cannot seem to quote you at the same time. However, I was unaware that there as a 500% exp buff at the moment. While that does explain the crazy leveling, it doesn't explain the effortlessness of the monsters yet. And no, I am not 93 yet haha I haven't played since I hit level 12. Went to bed, and am posting this while free at work.

I see, that alleviates some of my worry. Does the game become more challenging in ways other than gear? As in, do the boss's attack faster/use new mechanics/aren't just mobs with higher HP?

Yeah. You're gonna get stomped before you even do 1% of a nest Hp if you're a fresh lvl 93

Mhm thats the oart when people discuss about their build their stats and all when your stats and build and gears matters. In the future you're gonna be in a raid party where you have your own role because of the certain stats you have for your class. xd

Game is easy af even at 93.

Hardcore Raids are just HP sponges and glorified dps checks so they can sell broken cash gear to people

mechanics are so easy cuz everything is simple and telegraphed. "dont stand in red spot" there u just dodged 75% of enemy attacks

if u want mostly skill based challenge DN is not the game

      gear has a heavy influence

99% of the playerbase could do rune dragon hc in their sleep if they had the gears

getting geared is just insane grinding, luck or forking over a boatload of cash

try doing Rune Dragon Norm with theanos and clearing, most people cant because they dont want to put in the effort of learning mechanics, or they worry too much about failing
dont talk about RuDN HC, it is best if you never try to touch that content if you want to stay f2p

game itself is hard at cap, even with the red indicators its not a cakewalk but if your gear is op then the difficulty scales down because attacks aren't punishing and you kill the bosses faster.
bosses are always the guys u see in dungeons appearing with more attacks/hp, its been like that since the beginning like how SDN features minotaur from mino nest or lizards from freaking desolation point.

basically if u get geared enough even hard content becomes like the dungeons you are leveling in. but i wouldnt complain until u get to that point.

well the game used to have a more natural progression, where there was challenging content at all levels. Now the developers focused it all into endgame so what ends up happening is newbies get a false impression of the game's difficulty and get rekt when they try to do a nest. Id advise joining a guild thats large and active so you can get tips etc. But there is fun in just playing with a small group of friends and figuring things out yourself.

You will not find any mechanically challenging content in this game. All "challenging" content is barriered by a long grind for an increase in your own personal numbers, which can be alleviated by with irl $, as usual.

The game is a complete cakewalk when you are leveling. Certain enemies can 1 shot you at level 70 but thats all there is to it.
However once you reach level 93, the game completely changes and becomes much harder. You will immediately die in a dungeon if you dont have the mechanics down.
Only If you decide to spend money on the game then it becomes easy as hell. Anyone who says the endgame content is easy has probably spent money on the game.
You still have to level up to 93 and spend time enchanting gear before you get to the endgame so I dont recommend playing the game unless your up for a grindfest or just so happen to like the story.

              To the new guy.

Don't be fooled by the evasive responses above. Dragon Nest is an old, castrated game that lost all which made it appealing to a large enough audience to form diversity, difficulty, and immersion. Many who defined this game have moved on to better time consumptions including myself, due to the nature of the game's developers and how they puppeteer the playerbase into spending money in the most asinine way. The game has been reduced in such a way that it is completely undermined by the amount of money you're willing to gamble.

I work at a casino, and it is no different. First, you're introduced to the atmosphere, become assimilated and proceed to embrace it by participating in the target goal set by the company. EyeDentity needs money to run this game, but it more so wants to siphon as much money as it can out of the playerbase before its game shuts down. This can be determined by the company's actions up to this point and the quality of life the game presents. So, not only are you introducing yourself to a casino environment, but you are unknowingly enabling the environment to bring you down with it. This is the nature of Dragon Nest.

It's been a long time since I've played since I quit ages ago however, I still have trustworthy connections outside the game that share deep insight on the following details past the point of time that I quit. Here is what I've come to discover: The remaining playerbase is either completely enamored with the game for an extremely particular reason rather than because the game is good, or they simply can't let go of the phony pride that consumes them.

This is not a game or a playerbase that you want to connect or interact with. Find yourself a better game with a better community and a better future. It won't be hard, I'll tell you that.

                hmm!

                well met sir. basically 'yes'

he isn't wrong in my eyes. this train of thought is pretty much identical to what i feel/seen from the game itself and like him

i just can NOT bear to introduce another player to this side of life.
                the part which he says:
'The remaining playerbase is either completely enamored with the game for an extremely particular reason rather than because the game is good'
                - is what i am. well, sort of

i just focus on one main game and have side hobbies. DN seeks too much attention though for how it's gaming systems work and to be quite frank...
it's becoming more bothersome as time goes by

the directive of the publishers for Dragon Nest NA server are also a eyesore at most times.
                - i have expectations that the 'worst part is over' for the condition of NA and dragon nest as a whole.

basically right now and the last few months has been a exodus due to the actions/game management/direction the game developers decided to go forward with. didn't seem like they catered to the 'right audience' as we can see from the... AHEM clear defining results of their actions.

another overhaul of Dragon nest is about to come, however the more hardcore and invested players (which OP is NOT at this current stage. his is just giving his thoughts and perception of what experiences the game has given him up to the point he is now along with with his friend).
                - we know that it's pretty much do or die time for Dragon Nest, but the thing about that is....

the NA publishers plus the cash shop content being in-game applicable is a major turn-off to 80% (don't quote me lol just giving a number) of the average gaming community.

rather than have it hold our interests, it throws and repulses more users away from it than it attracts.
kind of like how you view dogshit on the footpath

The game does get more difficult when you reach 93. That said, it gets quickly boring again unless you grind, grind, grind every aspect of the game and play lottery with irl money to gear yourself enough to clear the more difficult nests. My advice to everyone starting out: just quit. Its not worth the hassle and the aggravatingly asinine class imbalances. So many people I know have moved to Kritika.

I played it a little, and the combat feel is exciting. That said, I'm wary of starting off on any mmorpgs now. Especially Korean ones. In my view, I am probably better off playing a console game since to me a game should be an hour of fun a day and a few hours on the weekend when I am so inclined. and one progresses as one plays with gear and difficulty levels. Not feel like it is another job one has to grind for hundreds of hours as well as spend inordinate amounts of real life money, so you can get into a raid team eventually. Ofcourse, I do not know how exactly Kritika will play out, but it seems to be a lot of fun right now from what I hear. I just hate to invest myself again like I did in DN, or focus on a class and find it not viable in future. I much prefer League of Legends for pvp.

Yesh I feel you, you know I just realized that dragon nest isnt technically a pay to win game.. its more of a " pay to gamble" because of all the rate bullshit like honestly there is no such thing as luck. it's just random values in the system that keeps generating.

Wow it's been ages since I posted here

This game used to have a praise worthy gameplay and combat, and it used to be praised for not handholding even from level 1.

ED decided that they needed to compete with mobile games and starting cap 80 they started to destroy what people loved about it, streamlining a lot of content, dumbing down the AI and stats of enemies (I'm not making up the AI part, it's in the patch notes), and lowering the overall difficulty of each mode (what is Master now it's what Normal used to be, also they deleted Abyss and Chaos diffitulties and the ability to pick difficulty). In 93 cap they added markings to show where an enemy is going to land an attack and where the damagebox is and that moment I knew the game I loved was no more.

They also removed Nests from lower levels making leveling even more of a sleeping pill than lowering diffituly already did. It was exciting to try and solo these with your new character when you hit certain mark. I don't level characters anymore because it feels like a chore even with all the EXP bonuses, there's zero fun. Why would I sit for hours to do something I'm not getting fun from?

Those changes caused an outrage (and hundreds of negative Steam reviews) and they still refuse to revert them or at least give back something.

I have nothing against giving aid to people who have a hard time playing action games. What really bothers me is that we don't have an option but play this easy mode permanently, and that the game refuses to teach players how to play. Why I can't pick Master difficulty with my level 1 character anymore? If I die and waste hearts it's my problem. And why the end game content it's still full of aids like hitbox marks? There's barely any need now to bring a healer or learn enemy patterns and tells because the aid will tell you anyways, every boss has essentially been turned into an HP sponge.

I'm still here because I like the story and characters.

Soloing Cerberus Nest at level 36 with subpar gears was still more exciting than anything you can currently do.
