It does past lvl 10, if it doesn't blow up how do you think ED will earn money when u don't use jelly?

You actually get a warning when you are enhancing. It also states that using Jelly prevents destruction during enhancement. I guess they assume players to learn from those statements.

Plus... they made the system to Auto Tick the Use Jelly Checkbox whenever use of jelly is available and you have enough jellies at your bag...

The auto-tick was not really to be trusted tho.... if you ran out of jelly you can miss it easily.... I almost broke my rune twice...
