Objectively speaking is ED liable to pay back any damages according to the terms and conditions of the game? Technically speaking IP block to every country other than SEA (shutting down the game to those countries affected) is like shutting down a game permanently. Have companies actually paid back any damages before because of a game shutting down? Because I doubt ED would make a decision that would make them liable to pay back damages. Ultimately it is everyone's own personal choice to spend money on this game that will eventually shut down in future be it next year or 10 years later.

At least implement this thing on the very first day you launched the game along with your Terms, or maybe when you took back the server from CC, that may still be acceptable to some. I may be from the PH, but cutting down all those players from other countries will make the game more toxic than it already is. Philippine Gaming Community is so toxic that the other players from other countries are like fresh air to me. Not ALL from the PH (Hindi ko po nilalahat.) are toxic and shitty players, but I must admit that those stinky players are more than those who plays with decency, moral and respect. ED at least implement that IP ban on future accounts. Let the old players stay. In that way, you'll be keeping the community happy. You're destroying GUILDS with good companionship and friendship in game. You're too evil to think of this plan this very late. It is October 2018! ALMOST CHRISTMAS!, you just had your Anniversary! you just got money from them! Even though you own our accounts, at least have some sensitivity, compassion, understanding and love to your players. Because they are the only ones that can make you keep going.

PS: VPN is never free. It may be free for few days, but it'll eventually ask for you to pay monthly subscription and it is not really that cheap. It also can become a hassle. It may be an option, but do you think those players you cut down will even come back? Most will definitely resent you for IP Blocking them and that I doubt will keep them from playing. Let me also add that even if players will use VPN, your income will decrease, because the player's budget will cut between the EYET and the VPN account. Please do not kill the game.

there are good free vpn's out there like softether vpn, you just need to look for a good server for it.

maybe this coming november, ED will be selling vpn softwares, for only $99.99 for a lifetime of vpn usage (strictly for dn purposes only)

I'm starting to think ED will be closing the SEA server soon. If they just decided to close borders on the server it must be for a reason. They couldn't make such an announcement without carefully pondering the consequences of it.

So far the most likely reason (or the best i could com up with) would be that ED just doesn't have the resources ($$$) to maintain server capacity, so they are downsizing in order to maintain service quality, which would explain their statement: "-to make a more ideal and efficient gaming environment". Since the majority of the population of the SEA server resides in the aforementioned three countries (Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines), the obvious decision would be to cut off the rest of the world. However i don't think they're seeing the long-term consequences of this.

This brings me to my next point. While it's true that the vast majority of the population resides in those 3 countries, the people who "finance" the server or, as i'll call them, "spenders" are evenly divided between the foreigners (those that play from outside the 3 home countries) and the home group (those that play from the 3 home countries). The game runs in a Free 2 Play model, which means that most of the revenue comes from micro-transactions, meaning that it's the people who engage in the acquisition of "cash items" with ED, who provide that revenue. As in any other F2P game, most of the players DON'T engage in micro-transactions and remain playing for free, and the spenders are a small minority of more dedicated players. From what I know and have experienced, about half of these spenders are foreigners (myself included) and the other half plays from within the home countries. If they cut off all the foreigners, they will end up losing at least 40% of their revenue which in turn will also take away at their capacity to maintain an even a smaller server. The population they'll have to keep will still be more than what they'll be financially capable of.

In short terms, they'll shed the weight of the extra players but at the cost of not even being able to maintain the people they CANNOT cut off. In the end it will become a downward spiral until ED decides that the cost of keeping the server active is not worth the profit they make out of it, and they will shut it down for good.

I think this is it... ED is backed up against a wall and is now burning all it's bridges. What we see now is a desperate measure to keep the server going, one that will only further dig it's grave.

The way they are handling this shows a huge lack of Morals and Ethics. I'm not mad that I spend some money in the game, I'm mad because out of nowhere I was locked from my account that I have being caring since cap 24.

And the CHERRY on the cake is of course their lack of communication, lets just block our dear player base and not give a single word or incentive for them to play in another server. Okay I'm good who cares anyway...

my memories with friends was in this game, we raids together, we do events together, we do daily quest together, we do so many things together in this game.
and that place where i can gather with my friend from other country. I feel so angry you know....i feel the symphathy for other player heard this announcement.

I hope the group of people in ED still have human moral compassion and conscience on this matter. If IP block is inevitable, a mere suggestion is at least they could make an effort to transfer the affected accounts to other DN server along with all the items acquired in-game through grinding or cash shop. Not just kicking someone outside the house without disclosing any reason and just closing the door.

It is beyond our head just to accept the fate of players outside the three country whatever his/her nationality because its hard to imagine that those players didn't commit any crime / failed to adhere the game regulations to received such treatment like this

Many users now are ranting on how they took care their account through spending time and real cash on it. And they should also know that spending cash is a freewill of any user and any moment, an online game they're playing might shut down, so they should accept it.

But this is a different situation, DN SEA is not shutting down. Its not the end of Dragon Nest. They're just limiting only the access of others outside SG/MY/PH through IP block lets just say maybe because of unavoidable legal situation.... but thats it? close the door and pretend nothing happened or heard nothing.

Even if this is a sudden decision that ED management didn't see it coming, maybe they should make an effort like account transfer in other server or publisher of the affected players if they wish to continue playing DN. (DN account transfer already happen before right? and they put effort on it by giving more than enough time to the players to transfer their account.)

We just hope ED management will see through again from these previous decision, there is still time to review it, see all considerations and act more professionally on their field of work.

As ED management last statement in their notice "As always, Eyedentity Games will endeavor to build policies that benefit the users of each server." We hope, time will come that those affected players will see or feel that "endeavor to build policies that benefit the users of each server" thing because those affected players are "users of their server".

Cross-finger and hoping that they don't failed miserably to protect the passion of their good players.
