Calling ED Representatives: Region Locking Dragon Nest Services.

I've recently come across posts saying a message along the tune of "you can't play DNSEA if you're not from the SEA region, or if you have a DN service available in your region". Is this true? I'd like representatives from ED to respond to this as this is utter, pure buullshiit of a policy.

I am not affected by this crap ass region locking policy, but I am infuriated at the stupidity of the idea of "protecting the interests" of the region's DN service.

If you check the screenshot I uploaded, it doesn't single out DN VN only. It mentions other regions like DN TWN, DN NA, DN JP and other regions where some SEA players reside. Say for example, I lived in a SEA country (take Malaysia), then I traveled to Europe for studies. Does this mean I can no longer play DN SEA because there is an existing DN EU server? What utter bullshit is that?

Mind you, bypassing region locks via a VPN hits your ping BIG TIME. A smooth sub-100ms connection downgrades to the high 250s and low 300s. It becomes unplayable. Might as well save the money spent on the VPN service than playing like shit because a stupid intern at ED decided it's a good idea to region lock these servers.

It's quite interesting. A lot of the veteran players who actually spend to keep this game alive are mostly playing because of the connections made in-game. If these connections are severed due to this stupid region locking policy, I wonder how many months will this game stay afloat before it comes crashing down.

Well many countries still can despite they having their own dragon nest server in their region and its fine if SEA wishes to IP ban certain countries due to that reason but its still bad and somewhat irresponsibly if they just anyhow ban without any kind of notification that "we are banning this due to this reason" and stuff. It might be totally useless to notify but they still should do it as a means for people to know whats going on instead of wondering why for some reason they cannot login to the website and game client for no reason one day. I do with they take this a bit more seriously and at least give people some more insight on why this wasn't an issue before and why it suddenly became an issue.

Exactly. If a policy change is impossible, at least explain properly what is happening, and why is it happening. We, as stakeholders (since we are the ones paying to keep the service running) deserve to know information like this. I am really starting to believe this service is run by a bunch of interns. What a disaster.

It's so infuriating to think, that a non-SEA player, who has invested time AND money into this game, suddenly gets IP blocked for no apparent reason one day, only because of the unfortunate reason of being born into, and living in that specific country. What happens to them then? Are they allowed to sell-off their hard work to at least recuperate a fraction of their cost? What is the value of an asset you cannot make use of, when you are barred from accessing it? Are they given special boosts/privileges if they decide to migrate to their local DN service?

This is just pure bullshit that was obviously thought up during a savage drinking session.

I've been in ur position if it's about IP ban but "has invested time AND money" is way worse. There are plenty online games that apply IP ban in the first which is frustrating since i will never touch local server (more toxic) but apply IP ban in the mid is just ridiculous.

owner of the pic from OP here, for now I replied and asked ED/CC about the reason for zero early notification nor announcement, the best thing to do atm is wait. The temporary solution should be using a VPN to gain access into the game. However, I hope that won't be a perma solution and also hoping ED/CC will give us a reason and hopefully [finally] stop this stupid region block too.

This is totally bullshit lol their replies don't add up at all. Nobody from the US or Taiwan is having any trouble accessing the game. I reached out to all my friends in the US or Taiwan to ask as soon as I found out that they banned countries which have their own servers of DN but they didn't even know that banning IP was even a thing.
So that reply you received is full of crap

And by the way lol I think this post is gonna be merged into that " Vietnam IP banned " soon hahahaha. That's just how things work around here, merging posts and ignoring complains. It's the only thing ED's staffs are good at, being bad and irresponsible but loving taking selfies and livestreaming.
