If I could suggest--would be possible to create a "testing" stage taking place before character creation?
Using the generic model for the class, you provide the player with a level 93 character, letting them pick their specializations. This would allow them to test out how a max-level character would play, and let them decide what they would want to later specialize in once they create their actual character. Reading a description of a skill or a class and actually playing one are two totally different things.
There are 9 classes and 2 dark classes (3 if you count the Arch Heretic that hasn't made it to North America yet), and more than 40 final specializations., which you can't switch between There's just no time to play that many characters. In addition to providing the opportunity to test out max-level characters (which is where all the real fun begins), it lets people get a taste of specializations they would otherwise never invest the time into.
The game provides a tiny taste of this in the training sections when you choose your specializations--but that's just you practicing with the class you've already made, with only the most basic of skills. The playstyles at low and high level, and post- and pre-specialization, can be completely different.
You could also provide the ability to spawn some monsters to test out skills on.
