  • Level 15 Specialization Quest Bug

Bug: Unable to complete level 15 specialization quest to advance to next job

    Client version
    : 556
    Time: 18:00 GMT-8
    Character name: PyroBurn
    Character level: 15
    Class: Sorceress
    Location: Sorceress specialization map
    Frequency of error: Always

    Description:
    1. Accept the level 15 specialization quest
    2. Enter the map for the specialization through the NPC
    3. Talk to the NPC inside that map
    4. Notice that the NPC gives "Start Test" for the left option and "Specialize" for the right option even though you haven't completed the test
    5. Select "Start Test" for the left option
    6. Enter the dungeon
    7. Kill the shaman
    8. Return back and talk to the NPC
    9. Notice the options still remain the same, with "Start Test" for the left option and "Specialize" for the right

Restarting the quest/Relogging/Using new job skills/Equipping quest weapons has no effect on the result and the bug still remains.

Actual result: Unable to complete the test for the left option and specialize in it
Expected result: Able to successfully specialize in the left option
    Temporary Solution (work-around): None

    Proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdh8_QIrHU8

I ran into the same issue when I tried on two new characters (Assassin and Archer) on two new different accounts.

I'm confused about where the bug is. Nowhere in the video do you actually click on the Specialize button and then click Yes.

The bug is that you cannot specialize on the left choice, in this case for the sorceress, this means that I cannot become an Elementatlist.

If you notice, the first time I talk to the NPC inside that dungeon, I get the options to Start Test for Elementalist or Specialize for Mystic (Another bug since I didn't complete the quest yet).

Since I want to specialize as Elementalist, I chose Start Test under Elementalist to start the process for it. I kill the shaman after the entering the dungeon and upon returning back to that NPC, I'm again only given the choice to "Start Test" for Elementalist or Specialize for Mystic.

So that's where you see the bug that I'm concerned about, which is that for the left specialization choice, at no time are you ever presented the choice to specialize in it like the right choice. You only ever see the "Start Test" for the left choice, and "Specialize" for the right choice even after completing the quest requirement of killing the shaman.

I hope this explanation made more sense.

The button's below elementalist and mystic have nothing to do with the images above. if you click on the elementalist, it becomes highlighted, and then click on specialize (which has nothing to do with the mystic image above it) you will become an elementalist.

If that is true, then yes this would not be a bug. I cannot check it until I get back home later today though. Was it always the case though that you were able to specialize in a job without having to take the test for it? Because the specialize option is clickable without having to complete the test.

It is intended that you must test either of the classes first before specializing. It is not a bug.

-Select left or right class; start test.
-After the test, you can pick your specialization.

I've just confirmed it now. I was able to take the quest and specialize on it without having to complete the test.
What I thought was a bug, was just a misunderstanding of the UI design, where the Specialize button was always below the the right option, which made me assume that I could only specialize in the right option.
You can close this thread now or mark it resolved Yaya, and thanks for the help Echelos and Yaya.
