Cannot level ally

I thought it was taking a long time to level so I took a screenshot of my ally xp then did volcano nest (f20), maze (f20), abandoned wharf (lab5) and old garden (lab3) and there was no increase, I found I can still use potion from the wonderful shop but they do almost nothing. Is this a bug? Is there some other way to level my ally?

Pets don't gain experience from dungeons anymore, patch few months ago. you can exchange 1000 community points for 1 bum bum potion in community shop ( 1 potion = 7 million or so experience.).
