  • Artillery Starter's Guide

    NOTICE: I will not be able to update further this guide. This will still be, mostly, if not all, relevant in the span of 2-3 months (more or less).

    Hi, this is a short PvE Starter’s guide for Artilleries. This aim to help starters.

    Base Skill Build (Post Revamp):

    • You can adjust the Masteries to your preference on the Archer tree.
    • Wise of the Owl is not that helpful for the time being. The long cooldown and the short duration does not make it significant.
    • Fake shot is personal preference. It can be quite tricky when you are an Artillery, most times it automatically triggers and you have to be ready under that circumstance.
    • Triangle Shot is quite helpful emergency escape. However since we have SP constraint, it is better to properly utilize it.
    • Longbow Or Crossbow is also personal preference. There is no difference between stats, only the range and perhaps aesthetic.
    Fatal Priorities:
    • Fatal Tracking Arrows for Single Target
    • Fatal Cannonade for AoE need
    Certain Skill Insights:
    • Extension Core
      • There are certain time it does not activate to I do not know why.
      • I also asked certain players from SG, and they also experience this a few times.
    • Rapid Shot
      • Rapid Shot is quite a key skill for bubble generation.
      • Additionally, the number of hits depends on positioning.
      • It is recommended to tilt upwards when casting Rapid Shot. Because arrows fire at the direction you are looking. And yes, Rapid shot can be fire upwards, which can be helpful on flying targets. (Do mind bubble management)
    • Tracking Arrows (also Applies in Fatal Tracking Arrows) - Direction
      • Arrows can be absorbed by walls and thus you can miss a hit.
      • Fortunately enough, nest grounds are quite open so there are less obstacles for that.
      • However it is an important note. In such case that arrows may hit something, face on a much safe direction.
    • Tracking Arrows (does not apply with Fatal Tracking Arrows) - Aim
      • Tracking Arrows will track the closest target by default.
      • In such case there are mobs, you can hit certain targets by aiming using the crosshair.
      • This again is an important note. I personally managed to sabotage a Rune Dragon HC run because of not aiming correctly on target. (It destroyed the Snake, you know what happened next.)
      • Apparently, crosshair does not affect FTAs. As per testing, FTA seldom work with crosshair.



    • Revolution Ballista (Ultimate)
      • The piercing also deals damage, apart from the explosion. The duration of the pierce can be shorten by pointing to the ground for instant burst.
      • The AoE of explosion is quite small, so take that into consideration.
    • Stunning Shot (CM 2)
      • This is quite RNG.
      • It most times gain 11 bubbles and sometimes 10 bubbles. It did occur to me to have 12 bubbles (but very rare.)
      • It is quite safe to just trigger on 7 bubbles. (to make 17 bubbles) during off mech in preparation of dps window.
    Conceptual Skill Rotations:

    Artillery is quite reliant to bubble management. There are some situations in which you may ran out of skill to cast (all skills are in cooldown.).
    • As usual, start with sustainable buffs and CM2. (Likely before portal entry or upon portal entry)
      • Spiritual Excel
      • Rage of the Owl
      • Magical Breeze
      • Stunning shot at point blank. (10 Fatal Bubbles)
    • Upon boss spawn, debuff.
      • Bulls Eye
    • Then Sylph’s Aid
      • Sylph’s Aid

    Under Sylph’s Aid, goal is to fire as much FTs (Fatal Tracking) within the duration.
    • Revolution Ballista
    • Tracking Arrows
    • Rapid Shot
    • Stunning Shot
    • Swift Shot Extension Core
    • Scope Arrow
    • Cannonade
    • Magic Arrow
    • FTs
    Here are some videos, because I think it may be best for visual than discussion type.Gear Priority:

    FD is not considered here because it is quite default (the best) and only a few can afford it.
    • Critical Chance
      • You. Must. Cap. Crit. (repeat this 1000 times to sink.)
      • You. Are. A. Burden. Without. Crit. (repeat this 1000 times to sink.)
    • 3rd Stats Plates:
      • Critical Chance (If not yet capped)
      • Magic Attack (If high end gear)
      • Intellect (If mid range, because this will help you in Critical Damage.)
    • 2nd Stat Talismans
      • Critical (If not yet capped)
      • Intellect (if capped)


    For Medea Users:
    • INT and AGI combination can help you with critical because we have Spiritual Excel that also boost our AGI by 50%.
    Skill Plates:
    • Magic Arrow -CD
    • Tracking Arrows +DMG
    • Rapid Shot +DMG
    • Sylph’s Aid +Duration
    Plate Selection:
    • Must Have:
      • Intellect
      • Fatal (if not yet capped)
      • Wind
      • Magic
      • Ultimate
    Talisman Selection:
    • Must Have:
      • Ancient Elemental Talisman
      • Ultimate Talisman
      • Intellect
      • Magic
      • Fatal (if not yet capped)
    Should you go Elemental?
    • Yes you should.

      CMIIW but I thought FTA (w/ damage heraldry) is stronger than FTC even without CM3. Is there any reason why I should use FTC in a boss fight situation?

        Apparently you seem correct. Thank you for the correction.

        Previously, it seems FTA is not affected my DMG plate, it seems affected now.

      Can I ask , what's the use of cyclone harpoon? my artillery has been dormant for sometime now. and when I use her it seems cyclone harpoon has no use.

        It is useful for Airtime extension like in VN hell where stomp mechanics are often. Also, it is quite a good filler when you have no skills to cast, assuming Swift Shot hits.
        Additionally, It is helpful in mob control in DQ dungeons and NM.
        Like CH > distance, FS if you have FS > Rapid Shot

          Hi again, Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand is Mid Range Gear is Medea Tier 1 & 2 and High End Gear is Calypse Tier 1 & 2?

          Hello, twinny, now that I am ok with my current gear - after living the life of the reckless Tempest - I am now thinking of going on the direction of pink arrows.

          Got some questions here in mind.
          I still have these crit damage plates and talismans (the 26k one for plate, and the 11k one for talisman) on my pursuit to increase the stat, should I change them into Int stats?
          I played with the gear simulator, the difference seems minimal.
          Should I slowly change them?

            in reference to your question twinny, you should actually yeild to mattack than INT, you will gain more.
            Additionally, I have a problem with Critical, as I am using 3 3rd stat max crit now to address the issue.

            Yes, you can opt to slowly change them.

            well, I have to use 3 unique int - crit jade to compensate the loss in exchange for HP :<
            it's funny how this class can easily hit crit damage without the need to overthink it as what I was doing with being a Tempest.
            Tho, right now, I can still say that I can do well in term of DPS using my Tempest
            Need to adjust on the new gameplay ~

            Btw, twinny, I was practicing with the golem.
            And, ... so the main reason for magic arrow CD is to use it on buffing TA, right?

            Not TA, but FTA.

            MA > TA only removes the pre- animation.
            MA > FTA adds 20% damage

          I've been using Artillery for almost two years now and I did not know you can aim tracking arrows using the crosshair. I thought it will always hit the nearest target. lol. Thanks!

              Hi Lite,

              Can I ask if changing to 2nd stat INT gonna help increase my damage?
              Currently my Artillery is using Matk 2nd stat talisman.

                Hello, I will phrase it like this, you will yeild better damage when you use INT 2nd Talismans.

                2nd stat INT talismans are better cause they will make more M Attack than Raw M Attack. Since Arti INT to MAtk is 1:1

                2nd Stats Comaparison:
                1.9K Int + Spiritual excel (50%) = 2.85k INT = 2.85k M Attack > 2.6k Raw M Attack.

                I personally had fun with Artillery, however, I am not able to catch up with her because I already went back to Windwalker, 2 or 3 patches ago.
                Additionally, I am focusing my attention for my sub-main to Avalanche than my Artillery for PvE.
