I have enough skill points to max out either Fire Wall or Hot Rod on my Elestra, and would appreciate some arguments for each for both PvE and PvP.
So far, this is what I have:
Fire Wall
1) Because it gets a damage bump at level 16, the stated damage is significantly higher than that for Hot Rod.
2) It has a shorter cooldown.
3) It has a shorter casting time.
4) It has high superarmor, while Hot Rod is sometimes cancelled.
5) Now that we have Dash, the mobility for Hot Rod isn't as necessary.
6) It seems very useful in PvP for superarmor.
Hot Rod
1) I have heard that the damage cap was removed, so could this potentially deal more damage than Fire Wall?
2) I have been experimenting with it at max level, and in nests it is always my 2nd-4th highest-damage dealing move.
3) The cooldown hasn't been a problem because I always have plenty of moves to cast, but I still like it for the DPS and for cleaning up mobs.
4) It seems safer than Fire Wall if you want to avoid taking hits.
5) Although we have Dash, it's still an extra mobility skill for the times when you want one.
6) It seems like it could be useful for chasing or evading in PvP, but I haven't tested it much yet.
Does anyone know exactly how the damage formulas for these two skills work?
Fire Wall at level 16 gives 3771% with "Total 5 burns" and "5% attack per burn."
Hot Rod at level 13 gives 2598% with "Total 5 burns" and "5% attack per burn."
So how do the hitboxes work, and what's a realistic damage % I can expect on different-size targets?
If I point-blank Fire Wall, can I deal absurd amounts of damage? How does it compare to circling the target with Hot Rod?
Does max-level Fire Wall deal respectable damage in PvP or would I be better off with a maxed Hot Rod?
Is there something else I should be putting the points into instead? All of my ice moves except for Icy Gust, Glacial Spike, and Glacial Freeze are maxed.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
