  • Care to Assist the Not-So Tech Savvy?

    Hiya!

So, I'm deciding to play DN again after a few years of not having touched it and I needed a little bit of help with downloading the game as stupid as that sounds.

But first, a question. Will DN adversely affect my laptop? It's not a gaming laptop and I'm going to be a filthy casual, but my old laptop became 100% unusable and I still don't know if it was because of the MMOs I played on it (Mabinogi and DN and a few other titles lost in the waves of time) or some other issue. Basically, I'm asking if DN is, in fact, safe to use and what I should do if I feel my laptop is being dramatically/negatively affected by DN's installation.

Alright, again this is a very stupid question, but on the download page I see 5 different links for a download. 1 is for Steam -- which is not an option for me because I don't use Steam. That leaves the following 4: FULL DOWNLOAD (ZIP), FULL CLIENT PART1, FULL CLIENT PART2, FULL CLIENT PART3. Do I download all 4, just the first one or just the last 3? Bonus points if you can tell me why there are 4 options, haha.

Also, how do I know whether or not my laptop is good for running DN? I have an ASUS Zenbook model UX305F. It's waaaaay better than the Toshiba piece of crap I once used, but I am illiterate when it comes to computers and ave no idea what my specs are and how they compare to the requirements and recommendations. All I know is that I have 8 GB of RAM, which is double the recommended listed on the main site.

Thank you so much for your help, I greatly appreciate it!

DN is perfectly fine to run and use. I'm currently using a dusty 2005 HP desktop that barely manages to work and it runs DN fine. The download options are catered to your internet speed. Full client download for those with fast speeds, and the split ones are for people that have slow speeds. That's what I"m assuming right now. I have a 150mbps speed so I downloaded the full client in one go. The minimum specs required to run DN is very minimal. Your laptop should be fine to run it. If there are any issues with your laptop while running DN, it's probably your RAM usage spiking very high. Just lower the graphic settings in-game and you should be fine.
