my game isn't working after the last update

    my game isn't working after the last update

    recently when the last update came it broke my game


    it keeps saying client data error tried to uninstall it and reinstall it
    tried to run as administrator but it the end nothing
    if anybody know what i have to do please help

    Running as admin alone fixed my game, but to be fair, I had a fresh installation I was dealing with.

    So, here's something you can try.

    Uninstall it.
    Restart your computer.
    Reinstall it.
    Run dnlauncher as admin.

    I got that before. All I did was run the game in administrator mode and it worked. Try this and see if it works.

    Within the dragon nest folder there should be 2 launchers. Iirc using the blue launcher will patch the game. Afterward exit that client and log in using the normal, green launcher.

      it says preInitialize failed i tried to run this launcher too as administrator after wards nothing
      then i restarted the pc and tried again still nothing

    I know you tried uninstalling and also running it as administrator. The main point of my post was to restart your computer between uninstallation and reinstallation.

    Computers sometimes do weird things if you uninstall and immediately reinstall some games.

    So restarting the computer can fix the problem, but it has to be done after you uninstall it.

    Okay, so, while we try to help you out with fixing your client, if you can access and play through Steam, I'd encourage you to do so.

    So, new plan, let's see if we can't manually update the files.

    I've attached two pictures with all the files that the client uses.

    First, I want you to check and see if any of those files are missing from your DN folder. (The path is something like C:\Program Files\EYEdentity Games\Dragon Nest)
    If you are missing any files, let me know, and I can upload the missing files for you to download.

    Second, if you have all the files, then I'd like you to check and see if any of the following files have not updated the last time you played. You can do this by looking at the "Date Last Modified" column in your folder for each file.
    The files you need to look at specifically are:
    DNEndingBanner.exe
    dnlauncher.exe
    DragonNest.exe

    Resource00.pak
    Resource01.pak
    Resource02.pak
    Resource03.pak
    Resource04.pak
    Resource05.pak
    Resource06.pak
    Resource07.pak
    Resource08.pak
    Resource09.pak
    Resource10.pak
    Resource11.pak
    Resource12.pak
    Resource13.pak
    Resource14.pak

    Version.cfg
    All those files should have around the same "last date modified" value. (You can see that in my picture)

    If any (or all of those files) are failing to update, I can try uploading the updated files, and you can download and replace the ones in your DN folder with my copies, to try and kick your game into working normally again.

      i cant download dn trough steam in my country and
      Resource04.pak is the only one with a bad date all the rest are 25th december

    Alright, I have resource04.pak uploaded for you.

    Download it, and replace the resource04.pak in your DN folder with this one. Try to get into DN again and update me here, please.

    I got you. Thankfully, version.cfg is a really small file.



    EDIT: Removed old link and put up a new one since there was an update this morning. If Resource04.pak and Version.cfg were the only files you needed fixed, then version.cfg is the only file that changed this morning. Resource04.pak is still the same.

    Here's the proper version.cfg file after today's update.

      Orona quick question after that last update do i have to download all the resource paks DNEndingBanner. dnlauncher. DragonNest.exe son piscina

        Little Timmy You shouldn't need to download all the paks, no. The only resource paks that updated this morning were resource05 and resource14.

        The only thing that seems off in your screenshot is resource05.pak
        It looks about 10% the size it's supposed to be.

        But before we worry about that, try to get your launcher to work, and if it still doesn't work or you get a different error message, I'll upload resource05 and whatever other file looks messed up.

          it says invalid shader data when i click the one which is soppose to update it

        Okay, I'm not sure what file is related to the shader, but resource04.pak is the wrong size. (It's a lot smaller than it should be.)

        ​​​​​​​Can you try downloading resource04.pak again and putting it directly in the DN folder? Here's the link again.

        Also, can you delete Patch0000572.pak? (You can just move it to a different folder instead of deleting it, but I don't know why that file is in your folder. I don't have it.)


        I'm trying to upload my entire game folder for you. That won't be ready for a few hours though, sorry.

          Ugh, so I can't upload the whole thing at once (the file is like 6.5GB and upload keeps failing). So I have to upload resource paks one at a time instead.

          For now, here are some resource paks to try using instead of what you currently have.

          Resource00.pak
          Resource04.pak
          Resource05.pak
          Resource14.pak

          Try downloading those, replacing the resource paks in your folder with the appropriate one, and try to use dnlauncher. Let me know if it still fails. I can upload more resource paks until we figure out which ones will fix your game.

            it worked after i downloaded the prior resoure04.pak and removed what you told me
            i had no need download what you sent in this message
            i am truly grateful
            until i went in to notice i was poor and had somethings to buy
            well time to farm i guess
            but on a serious note thanks

          Hi Orona Could i have Resource07.pak
          mine is only showing 60,941kb others are about 500,000 kb so i guess its also off
