  • Question for CM users

So, I'm having difficulties as to what I should use for an average skill rotation. Some people said spam instant, others say triple orbs, instant, grav ball, then focus gravity. But I'm curious to know if there is an optimal way of doing cm rotations efficiently enough to be consistent dps, or am I more of a burst?

What to use when main skills are on CD?
    What to use during FF?
    Preferential item build?
Optimum hp and dmg for idn taking into account ele percent (of which I have 82% in town)?
Any tips or tricks to do faster castings of some skills?
Should I immediately cast switch in gravity well, or wait a second or two to get some tics in?
And what should my damage be at the end of, oh, let's say the new pkn nest if cm is used properly?

These are just a few, and I may think of more, but thank you very much for viewing and hopefully answering at least a couple of the aforementioned questions.

Generally you should do Gravity Spark > Focus Gravity > Triple Orbs INS to speed up your gameplay. This allows you to keep up the Triple Orbs pressure.

Your general rotation can be Triple Orbs > Triple Orbs INS > Gravity Blast > wait > Gravity Spark > Focus Gravity > Triple Orbs INS

When your main skills are on CD, you can use skills like Summon Comet and Black Hole to keep up the pressure. Ideally you should have a Gravity Spark CD plate, which means you can use your INS every 4s. With the fast casting of Focus Gravity and Triple Orbs that I mentioned above, you should also have enough orbs to use Gravity Rush as well.

FF gameplay with just Triple Orbs spam is effective on larger bosses such as IDN stage 1. Gravity Well can be incorporated if the boss is small and mobile. I wouldn't recommend using Focus Gravity in FF because it's unreliable.

The full hits of Gravity Well are important. This is why you should generally avoid using Teleport Well unless you have multiple targets or it's more convenient, such as the bar mech of IDN stage 1. This is because Gravity Well 30% additional damage is only dealt to the lowest HP enemy under normal Gravity Well. Teleport Well applies this to to multiple enemies. Credits to Echelos.

This is one of my solo gameplays. It's far from perfect and I am still working to improve, but it shows a bit of what I've mentioned. I hope all of this helps!

One thing I will say about FF rotations is that its entirely dependent on how long you think you can manage to keep the boss still. (or how long until they use a mech that stops your rotation)

So first, generally the safest rotation is as Fabulous said in less words:
-Debuffs > FF > G-Well > Triple Orbs spam > G-Well > Triple Orbs some more > G-Well (and by then the duration usually ends)

The second option, which will have higher total damage output, but requires the boss to stay still and not mech for at least 10 seconds, is:
-Debuffs > FF > Triple Orbs 8 or 9 times > Focus Gravity > Triple Orbs until the duration ends > Wait a few seconds for the Orbs of Gravity to finish forming (or recast debuffs if solo) > Focus Gravity

Now the second rotation not only requires the boss to not move or mech, but also requires you to know how to properly land Focus Gravity which can be very glitchy at times and possibly pass straight through the boss, even now I'm never sure if it will actually work or not, I just cast it and hope for the best lol.

In the end Chaos Mage is a very tricky to learn class but a lot of fun once you figure out how to make your dumbass skills actually work. I wish you the best of luck!
