i was boutta get gold rank FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF i mean somewhat refreshing but i really feel sorry for the people who constantly play respawn they work they hardest for that shit RIP CHIBIAMMY,SILVERSOPHIA,INKANTO,HEAVENCENT,AND THE OTHER HARDCORE RESPAWNERS POOR DUDES
um hi wth.
I mean I'm sad that ranks are being reset in the first place since it took me forever to get where I am doing only 1v1s
but like, not even compensation for players outside of 1-100? srs?
And what's with this compensation even?

I'm taking this as a positive, and am glad they finally got around to it. Ranks have gotten to the point where they mean butt-diddly, most people who are blue ranks got it early in this games life span and as a result most of the blues suck massive wanger, hell my only blue is on a chill farming character that I never use anymore. When the server switch happened, several people with impossibly high arena EXP's switched over their accounts just to take up more room in the cluttered rank system already. Absurdly high EXP amounts are needed, and 1v1s simply don't cut the line to even be considered a viable way to exclusively get your way up in the ranks when compared to other options like chill rooming and endlessing, which are both generally deemed as detrimental to your skill level.
My issue though is they're implementing this, but they're not overhauling the major issues, such as the PvP reward system. Arena Medals are useless. During previous caps you could buy cap-relevant materials with them (I think this was 60 cap?) and from there it was an easy source of reliable income. Now its just sorta there, you can buy like 1 tech frag or something and it drops off in value extremely with that in mind topped with the weekly limit.
The ability to buy different costumes would be nice, obviously with differences among the brown ranks, blue ranks, and gold ranks, but it would be a welcome addition all the same. Most people PvPing just wanna either fashion it up or go full tryhard and play a naked warrior.
Disregarding the fashion notes, though, you've got the fact medals are awarded even if you sit with your thumb in your butt in a chill room, doing absolutely nothing but being a cesspool for tinkerer roleplay and awful drama starters who make this game look even more like a crapstorm than it already is. Chill rooms should definitely be a thing as its a way for more introverted players to be exposed to the game, but it shouldn't award as many medals as 1v1s or team battles.
This is a step in the right direction if you asked me, but its weird because its kinda like instead of taking steps up the proverbial stairs, we started on the third step, and are going to slowly inch back to one and two before progressing further up said stairs.
Idk why all the negative feedback tbh, I'm glad Eyedentity at least noticed PvP exists. All Nexon did was creep around the teamspeaks talking to whoever sounded the most like a 13 year old girl.
If ranks mean diddly now, just wait until skilled veterans such as Reita and Zeplic are brown rank and the high ranks will be made up of an even larger majority of endless farmers and chill roomers. Don't forget the mob slayers who will now be gunning for the PvE stone.
Perhaps a truly committed 1v1er or other small gamemode enthusiast can grind their way to a high rank amidst the sea of farmers maybe 2 or 3 days before the arena exp wipe that all the other servers who got this change have been getting every three months. The best kind of accomplishment is one that is both trivial and temporary
None the less, the 6 new players this change will entice to become chill roomers in this already stagnant and dated MMORPG will make it all worth erasing 6 years of progress made by thousands of individuals. Well, that and this amazing Hero's box and gold pouch Eyedentity was generous enough to compensate me with of course. I'm not a prostitute or anything, but if you're going to fuck me, then you gotta make it worth my while, you know?
TL;DR it's not worth erasing the tokens of everyone's time and effort
That's why I said its weird and have issues with the fact we're starting on the third step.
They didn't fix the major issues, such as Arena EXP and medals being awarded if you sit around in endless or chill rooms like a twat. It effectively is what makes me question the steps this update is going. My major concern would be ranked meaning even less, or something, but if it comes to that then nothing has really changed aside from the fact that now I've at least seen they're trying to see what they can do for PvP. I generally think if they were going to EXP reset, it should have been done during the transfer itself, but hey, better late than never. Anyway, yea, it shows they're willing to revamp some stuff.
And if that's the case, if I whine loud enough, they'll let me get a costume that isn't some kinkmaster BDSM suit.
I understand your concerns though, don't get me wrong, and I agree. Thing is what I originally wanted was for them to somehow put some kind of theoretical reward system in progress. Obviously I want 1v1ers to have the potential to shine, but idk, maybe somewhere off there in space is a super situationally good endlesser, and if he shines enough I want him to get rewards that make him feel relevant as well.
What I want is for both modes to be viable ways to earn yourself arena EXP, but given our current system its just easier to not do anything and roleplay in a chill room, which irritates me as they didn't fix the root of the original rank problem before deciding it was a good idea to reset ranks. I still honestly think this could be a step in the right direction and am pretty positive about this, but who knows. Sorry for you losing your ranks tho, mate.
It's one thing to rip all that hard work away from people...I mean we can get into what the Arena EXP ranks have to do with an update to Arena Rewards...but why give a bunch of "PVE rewards" as a compensation to people who don't waste time on such a useless part of the game? PvPers who are even remotely serious have dedicated time and effort to something much more fulfilling, frustrating, and fun..so our reward for that is our ranks wiped and handed stuff that only idiots who farm gold and fight crap monsters in order to make more gear to fight other monsters would find useful? Like someone up there said, it's like you took our cars away and gave us a barely working bus pass.
RIP 2011 - 2017 history: highs, lows, sighs, cheers, rage, and everything in between for an update that isn't even useful....but hey! STILL better than Nexon right!? Right, all....r-right?

Not sure what this "update" does for people who PVP? You want rewards? Go PVE. Nexon didn't need to pay attention to PVP because it doesn't need attention. The reward in PVP is beating someone up and getting better with your classes...PVP didn't need an "update", only class nerfs/buffs/balances in order to make PVP more enjoyable were needed. Besides that, MAYBE some fun new mode to fight? The negative reaction is obvious. Only a PvEr or those creepy people who do both and are good at neither can't see that.
"At least Eyedentity at least noticed PVP exists." Yea...so they can mess it up for people? I rather they didn't notice it and left PvPers alone, and spend time wondering if they want to give people DNP coupons or not or fix Red Cross Earrings or not.
Nexon didn't pay attention to PvP and because of that it suffered immensely. During the age prior to the server merge PvPers voiced their complaints worried that the merge would cause major lag and it did literally ONLY that and caused several people to quit for long periods.
The reward for PvP isn't beating someone up, that's the satisfaction. Fact of the matter is that there isn't much incentive for newer people to join and its led to a stagnant community. The skill jump from random player to someone who PvPs casually is all and dandy, then you got regulars and known players, and the jump from there to there is absurdly wide and is generally offputting for newer players.
At the end of the day you lose what, a rank that means nothing? With a new overhauled method we could at least TRY to make it so the ranks hold some semblance of meaning.
They can take away numbers from us, and pretty stars. But they'll never be capable of taking away our ability to kick ass.
Everybody knows the fakes from the badasses. this exp rollback wont change that.
You're good. Or you're not. End of story.

Yeah, it sucks to lose all that time.. But they're just numbers.
End of the day, I'm still Zeplic. Come @ Me. -- That goes for the others too. true pvpers havn't really lost anything aside a shiny symbol next to their name. If anything, its a blessing in disguise. People will stop running away from my rank now.

I actually think it's a good thing and I am looking forward to it. Yeah I lose my 2 star gold, but Slash gets dethroned, and pvp during the summer months will be lively as everyone is trying to rank up. I couldn't be happier.
And you speak about respawn as if it's a negative thing. There is life outside of arena 1v1. You are missing out.
