  • Unable to launch game

I am a returning player and just downloaded the game. I was able to open the launcher without issues and after I was done patching, I clicked start but the game does not launch. Here are the logs from the log folder. Based on task manager, the dragon nest launcher app dies and no dragon nest process or app ever starts.

you are missing these lines that is why your game did not launched as it should intended to be:

    20180519033042 [debug] ?Patch Start!
    20180519033042 [debug] BeginPatch - Start
20180519033042 [info] Patch Check Version (Client Ver:323, Server Ver:323)
    20180519033042 [debug] ?Patch Success!
    20180519033051 [debug] ? Launcher Closed
    20180519033051 [debug] Thread End

Base on your dnlauncher log, it failed to do a patch start, which detects if you have the right client version, which you do, but it did not started successfully, because something prevented it from doing so.

It looks like you are experiencing what others are experiencing right now, currently there are some people reported that they cannot download the game because the installer stops downloading the patch files right after a certain file is downloaded, this happened after the machina patch update just this may 15th 2018 tuesday.

did your OS updated your settings? did it commenced any kind of system update recently? if yes, try reverting back to its previous version without the new updated, or revert back your Windows 10 version from before it installs any update at all, then try launching the game again.

here's what i think that happened why you cannot launch your game:
    • The DN LAUNCHER requires administrative permissions, try running it as administrator and check if it runs
    • while downloading, the files being downloaded got corrupt or damaged, this might be one of the cause, only if the download method you chose is downloading the rar files by part, or downloading the full client via torrent, the files you download gets corrupted or damage when you use a wireless modem to connect to the internet such as pocket wifi, broadbands, prepaid or postpaid routers that relies solely on signal to provide you with internet connection or WiFi
    • when your operating system updated, your DN folder might have been affected, in some way, this was a cause for some people.
    • when your operating system reverts back to another version from before, the current files will be affected especially your DN folder, i am not sure why but that also happened to me once, needed to reinstall the game in order to play again since it always pops up an error.

I already tried running as administrator. There was a major windows update recently but I downloaded and installed the game after the update so I doubt it is the issue. I did download the file via torrent using wifi. I will try directly downloading the client and see if it helps.

if i were to learn... i will use that knowledge to troll my friend into committing his computer to run dragon nest in the worst possible way.
that aside i dont have a friend so maybe i wont bother learning either way

Mr.Shovels at least learn the techy stuff for yourself. for when you encounter some tech problems. you're armed and ready to face it. who knows, you may even gain monetary profit from it in the future. eg doing part time repair jobs :3

well since i don't have anyone who could solve a problem like this, i would rather just google it, determine if this is legit and not a sham, try the method, then all is good if its solved, if not, then i just find another way and search it on google.

i am not easily giving it up if i want something really bad but i can't find it by any regular means, so its much better to use useful keywords when searching on google such as adding the "forum" keyword or "reddit" since reddit always has most of the weirdest and complicated topics discussed already.

but thinking how powerful and knowledgeable you can be by just googling stuff, and then people don't use it for that instead use it for searching adult sites or stuff, humans sure is taking a leisure life, no wonder we aren't in the moon yet walking around :v well that is off topic now

      Hello,

In the past, I did encounter the same problems as yours a couple of times, "game start did not do anything". In my case, a simple restart resolved it. Could you try doing a system restart. Let us know if it does help.

I am also a returning player and just downloaded it yesterday. I am also experiencing similar issue and similar log with the op. I have also downloaded the client via torrent because I am experiencing the issue with iDNInstaller and it says "Currently you are not able to reach the server. (404)". After installing and patching it, when I press the Start button nothing happens. The launcher and the game itself is by default Running as Administrator. I also checked the task manager and after I pressed the Start button, DragonNest.exe shows up for a second then disappears. I also have the same OS which Windows 10 Pro and it is already updated to version 1803 before installing the game.

        Here is my log:

The issue is still not resolved, I've tried direct download, restarting and running as administrator. Reverting my windows version is not something I'm willing to do just to play this game. There is no reason dragon nest should not work with the latest version of windows.

Okay I've managed to solve the issue with the fix in the post below. Make the changes listed below, restart computer, run dragon next (it should work this time). Turn off dragon next. Revert the changes made earlier. Restart computer. Run dragon nest again. It works this time. This does seem very hack-ish thought and there should probably be a patch to address this issue.

Can you try this and see if it works:

            1. Go to your start an type "Exploit Protection"
            2. Turn off 2 things under the System Protection Settings TAB:

            - Data Execution Prevention(DEP)
            - Validate Exception Chains(SEHOP)

            3. Restart your computer.
            4. Try running Dn again from the "dnlauncher" as "Administrator".

Let me know if it works.

NOTE: Please revert back these settings after you run Dragon nest.

Side Note: This is not a recommended Solution but you may try if u wish.If it doesn't work, PLEASE Revert it back!

Maybe the update did broke something in your Windows. I am not currently receiving any system updates because I paused it and will resume updating in June.

that's why i don't like any new versions of windows and most people still use windows 7 or 8 since those are the most stable versions for any type of users, both professional and casual users.

windows 10 is just an unstable version combined w7 and w8, its still a long way even after years from its first release to be stable like w7 and w8

LOL. Thanks. This worked for me. Maybe the latest windows 10 update tweaked something and broke something unintentionally.
